Donations to family with 9 children:
M. Heang heard about this family with 9 children were the father is not able to provide for them. Under normal circumstances most of the children would be put in orphanages to be taken care of, but they try their best to not have to do that.
We bought 150 kg of rice, 50 packs of noodle soup, 12 bottles of soya sauce. In addition I also bought 100 packs of dehydration-powder. When we arrived the mother didn’t know we had all this stuff, she had only talked to mr. Heang who asked her all sorts of questions to be shure this is a good family to support. Unloadning the food made all the children jump around. This means they won’t have to worry about food for the next month! Hopefully the father can consentrate better on his firewood-business and get on his feet.
Update on water pumps:
The 5th water pump is finished and when we arrived there today I was happy to see it was in use. The mother was washing her baby girl and washing clothes. They give their best wishes to all of you making donations.
There are 2 more locations for water pumps being found today, and they will start drilling on monday. Tomorrow is a national celebration here and there is a boat race on the river through Siem Reap – Kano-racing that is.
Situation for the roof of Chan Loang primary school:
The highest wish from the Head Master and the students is to have the roof of the school fixed. The school is not more than 5 years old, so it’s a shame the roof is already broken. Unfortunately the donators back then had used the wrong materials, so it cracks in the sun. When it rains it runs rivers into the classroom, making so much water damage and problems teaching. We have gotten an estimate of 3800 dollars to lay new roof plates on the 600 sq.meter roof. Mr. Heang will have a meeting with another constructor tonight to compare price and quality.
The donations I have left so far will cover 2 out of 5 classrooms so I think we will start construction with that. 2 good classrooms is better than none, but I really hope there will come in more donations so we can fix the whole roof! So please spread the word and a whole village will be forever grateful.
